I have many friends who won't go to Roy's because of the noise. Their chief complaint is it's hard to converse with people at one's own table! Different strokes, I guess!

I find it too noisy to chat as well. When Roy's first opened I thought what a great place to take a date. Turns out you have to practically shout to be heard. So when I ate there I would tell the girl at the front to send my dinner tab to the bar downstairs where my party will be moving to for more intimate conversations over a few drinks.

I did recommend to Roy that the restaurant could be quieted down with a few strategically placed carpet pieces and suspended artwork over eating area to help break up the sounds reflecting off the glass windows but he said he preferred the lively sound. Oh well.

After watching SUPERSIZE ME I have a hard time holding down fast food.
