Is she related to Kani Evans, the Outdoor Reporter?

Can you think of any broadcasters (tv or radio) in Hawaii whose talent was passed down to their offspring besides the Leahey(Jim & Kanoa) and the Robbs(Don & Scott)? Sports play by play seems to run in the family on the mainland too with the Carey(Harry & Skip) & Buck(Jack & Joe).

hi this is sansei and i just heard from my tape from the end of last night's khon 2 news that joe moore said something that he's been in the news business for about 40 Year's and that he has an announcement next week and im hoping he wont retire or who will take his position and i e-mailed Khon and let them know that i think Jai or even Gina M or Kirk M would be his perfect replacement is they have enough under their belt that they worked their way up to where they are and if Kirk M or Jai C or Gina M take his position,i would be happy is they have enough experience to fill joe's shoe's.

    Well thank's for your time

Well, shoots, no doubt they wanted to know who Sansei recommends.
Who knows, maybe Joe is announcing he's going to star as Emile De Becque opposite Loretta Ables Sayer on Broadway.
Maybe Joe is going into the ministry.
Maybe Joe is going to demonstrate yoga positions during his closing moments.
Maybe he's moving to California to get married!
Maybe he's chucking it all for a motorcycle ride across the continent!

No one knows. Speculation is a dangerous thing!

    Very funny, Lavagal!
Hey, remember when KHON switched to being a Fox channel? Joe Moore did the same "big announcement coming soon" and got folks (some folks, anyway) speculating that he was going to move channels. Media fell into it and rumors were flying. The big day arrives and Joe leads off the newscast saying he'll have an announcement about his possible move at the end of the cast. At the end of the cast, he stands up and says "It's true. I'm going to move. (pause) I'm going to move my chair over an inch (moves chair and sits back down) and I'm staying right here at KHON."
    Publicity hound. [/yawn]
Ratings were good for that night, though.
Speaking of which, isn't it a sweeps month right now?
    Hmmmm.
    I'm just sayin'.

Typical tactic during contract re-negotiations time.

Make the public and your bosses THINK you are gonna leave and quit the business so that the company offers you more money and other perks.

If I remember right, Joe Moore's 14-year contract is gonna expire this year or next.

    Either 2008 or 2009.

It's time to up the ante and turn the heat up on his employers, make 'em sweat and give him an even better contract.

Joe Moore is a phenomenon in TV news. He deserves every penny.

He has made KHON's many companies millions upon millions of dollars over the years.

That would make for some enchanted evening's newscast; though, while Joe may be a wonderful guy, he's certainly not younger than springtime.

All this happy talk is making me crave a bloody mary. And a honey bun.

Don't forget we are still in the May ratings period = do whatever to draw viewers

    Maybe he's going to "announce" that he's starting his 41st year . . .

Maybe he's going to announce that he has finally learned how to pronounce "Kāne`ohe" correctly.

Joe will mark 30 years at KHON next month, when he first began there he was sports anchor to the then Eyewitness team of B.J. Sams and Barbara Tanabe.

Maybe she (Kimi) is Kani Evans grandaughter or niece. Is Kani Evans still living?

Young, energetic, single and childless. Unfortunately, that's what it takes to do that job.

Looks like Joe is doing a good job of convincing the "masses" of his possible departure.

If it gets you a better contract for your and family Joe, I'm all for it!

    Default Joe Moore leaving KHON

I was just watching(DVR) last night’s news and at the end of the news cast Joe Moore spoke about leaving KHON. Did anyone else hear of Joe’s plans?

If I made just one person laugh today, I can sleep soundly tonight knowing that my day was successful.
Glad you got -- and enjoyed -- the humor!

He didn't talk of leaving. Watch the DVR again.

Taking a page out of Joe's playbook ... well, really from my brilliant former KSSK General Manager Earl McDaniel*, I would encourage you to read my column tomorrow. (Honolulu Star-Bulletin, "TheBuzz.")

Oh, well I guess you could ALSO tune in to the KHON 10p show tonight to get the answer as to what's going on.

It's sweeps month. Plain and simple. Promote, promote, promote... get eyeballs in front of that TV... do it @ 10PM and try to topple Channel 9's lead in that timeslot. Nielsen is a great motivator for TV $tation$.
