yesterday we had dinner at mr. ojisan on kapahulu. we shared steamed clams, broiled eggplant with bonito flakes and grated ginger, broiled saba, ahi poke with ogo and shredded daikon, and hamachi sushi. oooooooh soooo ono, esp wit da orion beer....cause the beau wanted to pay homage to his okinawan side.

dinner tonight might just be at a plate lunch place. if it's the one i think we're going to, imma have me a chicken katsu/chili combo plate. oinkoinkoink!!!

We had a shrimp harvest today, so I grilled some of it tonight and had them with a Bass ale. That was a good supper. I love harvest days!

Asian dumplings, sold by the 5-pound sack in the freezer case at Costco. Kid 1's favorite. Put them in a heavy skillet with a coating of oil and about half a cup of water, let them steam up, then brown, then turn them, then turn it off, then serve them. If you're 7 years old, you like them snipped by the kitchen sheers in three pieces to dip in the sauce that comes in about four packets in the bag. For mom, it's a real easy no brainer meal.

Found some cube steak in the bargain bin at Foodland, so I snatched them up and made us some country fried steaks for dinner. Dredged them in flour and fried them up crispy. Made a roux with some of the oil and dregs and mixed in a cup of beef broth and 1/2 cup of 1/2n1/2 for a rich gravy. WhooOOOtaaahhh!....well, it tasted good. Unfortunately, the butchers didn't cube the beef all the way through and some were pretty tough.
