I guess it's because I feel like I'm biting into a sugar coated piece of cardboard. I know they're not that hard to bite into -- I've just always thought they were gross.

Same with when I bite into an uncooked piece of onion. Blech.

I don't like them either. We get them in massive amounts at Costco for the girls to pack for school snax and for when we hike. To me they are too sweet and the pastry isn't really worth the added calories to me. So I give them a miss. Not that a Kasha or a Zone bar taste any better.

I eat them straight outta the box or toasted. I love the maple brown sugar and cinnamon ones.

On Alton Brown's Good Eats series, there is an episode called "A Pie in Every Pocket" in which he describes all kinds of pocket pies, including toaster pastries (like Pop Tarts, but made from scratch and definitely more tasty!). He made them with a chocolate filling. Look pretty ono to me.

There's a product I grew up with in South Jersey called TastyKakes; I loved their pies, butterscotch krimpetts, peanutbutter kandykakes and juniors. Their pies were fat rectangles flowing with filling--depending what was in season. Blueberry, rhubarb, chocolate eclair, lemon (my favorite!) and coconut. There was also cherry, apple, peach (yum!); oh my this is right before supper! I'm torturing myself! Anyway, they tried to market in Hawaii but the distance didn't do the product justice. And I think there are enough of us from the Delaware Valley who longed for them while they were on local store shelves, but our thighs spoke louder than our taste buds!

I know I'm in the minority here, but I think PopTarts are disgusting.

I think I can count on one hand how many times I've eaten them in my lifetime and even then it was just two or three bites.

You can count me in on your take. Don't think I've ever been able to finish one, let alone the two that come in one foil/paper package.

(IIRC!!!) The pastry crust has this "doughy-pasty" flavor that, even after baked still tastes uncooked, along with some mystery jelly filling that, when heated, turns into "Tongue Napalm".

Overall, it just doesn't cut the implied convenience, IMO. Maybe not "disgusting", but just NOT good.

I'm stickin' with good ole' fashioned TOAST.

Arrgh! Poptarts! I love them and have them on my list as have to eat foods when I get off this diet on 20th of this month!

Blueberry is my absolute favorite with the kalakoa sprinkles on the frosting. Toasted is best, but since I will be in a hotel on the 20th straight out of the box is winnahs!

I can almost taste it!
