(personally I'd prefer "telemarketing scum" but someone might consider that "libel")
This probably belongs in the "pet peeve" thread, but I'm posting separately for more visibility. You'll see why in a moment.
Anyway, I'm spending Father's Day at my parents place when the phone rings. It's a telemarketer. The worst kind - a recording. "Man Man Dan" is telling me about all the special Father's Day used car deals he's got going. Now the worst thing about a recording is you can't rip into the person who's calling. All you've got is "Press 5 to remove your number from our list". Not exactly satisfying.
So the main point of this post is to increase the 'cost' for MMD and anyone else who would consider using that method to advertise. Apparently ticking off a few people doesn't carry enough of a penalty. But in this day of the Internet, maybe a little public backlash will do the job. (I can hope.) I mean, here I am trying to spend some family time and this jerk has to intrude into our home to commercialize it. Just trying to live up to the stereotype of a used car salesman I guess.
Also, anyone remember what the deal on Hawaii's telemarketing law is? MMD isn't a charity or politician. So he doesn't get an exemption. No one can remember of my parents are on the government's "no call" list. (dang - I'll love to nail him with that if they are.)
Argh.
