I posted this last month, but the music track was lost when transcoding for emailing. Here is the corrected version.
This is from 1979, not 1978.

I remember the KITV lineup because my stepdad was the sportscaster.

Don Rockwell (anchor): blonde haole in his 40's
Gene Okamoto: part japanese, part haole, later took over at anchor
Matt Levi (special reports): brown afro, always spoke tight lipped
Paul Guanzon: (sports) filipino with afro
Emme Tomimbang: She was a cutie in the 70's
Emerald Yeh: Used to see her at our apartment pool with her white bikini. Very hot!

I used to ask my stepdad about stuff like Checkers and Pogo and Super Spy's real names (which I still remember). Before KITV, Paul used to work for Professor Fun as an assistant magician.

Here's one I havent mentiond yet, KGMB's Pat Brown, who co-anchored the weekend news with Linda Coble and Mel Proctor during the late 70's. Sadly
Patric Brown passed away about 10 years ago.

And it looks as though Linda has moved on from PBS a couple of times. No specific date on this news release, but at the bottom it says 2008:

Here is some vintage 1969-1973 video footage of Bob Basso from his KHON days that was recently transferred from the original 2 inch quad tapes, I have lots more footage, but felt this was a good sampling of him as a sports anchor, reporter, news anchor, etc. also includes editorials which were common back then and even one of the "Locker Room Ladies" as mentioned in my column:

A few people contacted me saying the clips were not working earlier, but they are now. The other person on the video introducing Basso is KHON anchor Don Picken.

If anybody is interested and missed the Bob Sevey interviews that Leslie Wilcox did with him on Long Story Short, I posted the transcripts on the program page on the PBS Hawaii site.

I thought the most interesting part of the interview was when he talked about the battles he had with the news 'consultants' that led to his 'retirement.' I'm old enough to remember Bob Sevey as the 'Walter Cronkite' of Hawaii news....

maybe this was brought up before, but does anyone remember Al Michaels as a sportscaster here (I think for KGMB) before he became a big network star? if this is a repeat, I apologize.
