Or like the east coast. We have lots of Targets here and in Florida there are the SuperTargets!

Sells groceries like WalMarts Superstores do. Another national chain that competes in the same space as these two is Kroger, which has regional subchains like Fred Meyer (originally based in OR but was bought out by Kroger's several years ago).

Actually a SUPERTARGET versus a regula one is they have PRODUCE VEGGIES and FRUITS, Expanded sections of MEAT and so forth...

Regular Targets do have some groceries but limited stock and also based on the location and space that well call "Market"...

With its traffic problems, earthquakes, vog, etc. its "Konafornia" moniker is well-earned.

All that's needed is a Whole Foods Market, an IKEA, a Best Buy, and an In-n-Out Burger and Kona will really look like an Orange County suburb.

Re: Target is Coming To Kona

I was hoping Best Buy would open a store in the Kona Commons project also, along with Borders (their Kona location is cramped and the parking is lousy). But it doesn't appear that is going to happen, at least in the short term. Also it seems they've put the brakes on phase III of this shopping complex (which would've been 385,000 square feet).

One particular law that we have in Hawaii County that absolutely guarantees that it will look like Orange County eventually is the Building Height Restriction.

OC has had a BHR law for 35 years. And very few oranges left.

This is a good thing for families on budgets. Target rocks when it comes to kid's clothes, diapers, etc.
