  • Aloha Hawaii Threads!

Hello everyone! I've been a reader of these forums for a while now and finally decided to join in on the posting fun. My name is Dale and I live in Ewa Beach. I currently work in sales and have a great interest in web publications and website design. I currently have two blogs that I publish, both of which can be found in my signature.

I'm glad to be here and hope to have some good discussions on Hawaii Threads!

    Aloha!

And I noticed that one of your blogs is "www.locokinegrindz.com -- Food review blog for Hawaii restaurants."
So I'm curious -- did Lina Girl and Bruddah Sam of the very famous "Local Kine Grindz" gave you their blessing to clone their name and their restaurant review concept?
I'm just wondering, because I didn't see any mention of them or any credit to them on your website, which you apparently just created this month.
      Anyway, welcome to HT!

Hrm a sense of irony hits me... or maybe I'm just not informed. I have never heared of "Local kine grindz". In all honesty I wanted "ONO KINE" but it was taken so I went with the next thing I could think of.

Loco kine grinds, man! Loco! Like, you know, ka-ray-zee!

Geez. Get planny "local kine" stuffs. And grinds is grindz is grinds. The phrase predated the TV show. And a blog is not a TV show. And Dale will not easily be confused with Braddah Sam. Or, at least, I'm assuming.

Of course, this article says you'd have to be named Bin Ladin to not know about the show...

Anyway, Dale. Don't sweat it. Blog on. Meanwhile, tell us more about yourself. Sales? Selling what? I guess not public access television trading cards...

I sell office printing equipment to local businesses for a well-known company (keeping some anonomity here :P) as well as services for document management. I used to work for the business center over at CompUSA on Ala Moana Blvd, but left there some months ago.

Why, did they tow away your car too?

Actually, I was working there when the whole "towing" fiasco was going on. I actually supported their towing policy. The article that was published about that lady and her daugther had a LOT of inconsistencies and being that I was actually there when it happened, I know that she overexaggerated a long of things and actually changed her story several times before she went to the paper.

No worries, Dale. That whole fiasco was well and truly hashed out here, and I think lots of folks are in agreement with you. Speaking only for myself, I felt that Charlene Aldinger was a name-dropping, elitist, dimwitted harpie who's an embarassment to her employer and her daughter (in whose name she started the whole flap). Regardless of how I may feel about CompUSA, I feel a bit better about shopping there when I have to.

Er. But yeah, that's another thread.

So... uh, where'd you grow up? Wea you wen' grad?

Grew up right here in Honolulu, HI! I went to Punahou and elsewhere for a bit. First year into college I decided it wasn't fo rme and took a year off to explore different things. Started off 2 years ago as a cashier at CompUSA, got promoted to the top level sales position and won president's club award in 18 months of employment there. Now I work for a Fortune 500 company making about 55k+ a year. Not too bad for having just turned 21 I guess.

Yep. As PZ noted, many of us here agree with you on that. That's why I made the joke.

How's the weather in Hawai'i Nei? Been there twice and can't wait to go back. Don't know when that will be, but hopefully soon.

Weather is nice as usual! It's been a little cloudy over the last few days but its a nice drop in temperature from the summer heat.
