Is anyone watching this Wednesday night series? We checked it out on a whim, after a couple of good reviews and a subconscious attachment to ABC on Wednesday night, and have enjoyed it quite a bit. A lot of strong actors and distinct characters. Funny and irreverent, but often poignant, I'd say it's one of our favorite new series in an otherwise lack luster fall season.
Donald Sutherland is fantastic, playing the stoic matriarch with just the right mix of quirk and poise. Peter Krause, from Six Feet Under and Sports Night is a strong protagonist (doing quite well despite having to play the straight man). William Baldwin, as usual, plays a weird, conflicted character just right... in love with a "tranny hooker" but plausible as a senatorial candidate as well.
The story arc seems to be moving fast, but that's not uncommon for a new show wary of its possibly short lifespan. I'm not sure how it's doing in the ratings, but I think it's worth a watch!
