I won't have a chance to see much this year however last night I saw "The Killing of John Lennon". Powerful movie. While it was fun playing Name that Oahu Location game, I was disappointed that the scene shot at La Mariana ended up on the editing room floor. Supposedly it will be in the "extras" on the DVD. The film is well done and recommended. It screens again Monday night at 6:30.
I remember where I was when I heard that John Lennon had been killed and that the murderer was from Hawaii.
Makana appears in a scene (ooooowheeee baby, he looked sex-eeee!) and he also contributes several songs to the sound track.
And, no, I didn't work on this film! (I turned it down; a wise decision as I later learned! <g>)
I hope to get to Wednesday's screening of "Beautiful Son" altho' the time might make it difficult. It's a documentary by Hawaii cinematographer, Don King, about autism and his autistic son, Beau. The credits read like a who's who in the film industry. I expect that, in addition to telling a powerful story, it should also be visually exceptional.
