It's been overplayed to death, but... Wind Beneath My Wings has to be on the list.

Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes
            By: Jimmy Buffett
            1977

I took off for a weekend last month
Just to try and recall the whole year
All of the faces and all of the places
            Wonderin' where they all disappeared
I didn't ponder the question too long
I was hungry and went out for a bite
Ran into a chum with a bottle of rum
And we wound up drinkin all night

            Chorus:
It's these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes
            Nothing remains quite the same
With all of our running and all of our cunning
If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane

Reading departure signs in some big airport
Reminds me of the places I've been
Visions of good times that brought so much pleasure
Makes me want to go back again
            If it suddenly ended tomorrow
I could somehow adjust to the fall
Good times and riches and son of a bitches
I've seen more than I can recall

            Chorus:
These changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes
            Nothing remains quite the same
Through all of the islands and all of the highlands
If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane

I think about Paris when I'm high on red wine
I wish I could jump on a plane
So many nights I just dream of the ocean
God I wish I was sailin' again
            Oh, yesterday's over my shoulder
So I can't look back for too long
There's just too much to see waiting in front of me
And I know that I just can't go wrong

            Chorus:
With these changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes
            Nothing remains quite the same
With all of my running and all of my cunning
If I couldn't laugh I just would go insane
If we couldn't laugh we just would go insane
If we weren't all crazy we would go insane

"There's just too much to see waiting in front of me
And I know that I just can't go wrong!"

This post makes my 3,000th addition to HawaiiThreads (for better or worse)
And am presently ranked 12th as far as amounts of posts. Whew!
Life is either an adventure... or you're not doing it right!!!

                Encourage and Inspire...hmmm

Shine - By the Rollins Band.

if I'd listened everything that they said to me, I wouldn't be here!
and if I took the time to bleed from
all the tiny little arrows shot my way,
                I wouldn't be here!
the ones who don't do anything are always
the ones who try to put you down
and you could spend your entire life walking around
in the nowhere land of self doubt

'coz when you start to doubt yourself the
real world will eat you alive!
it's time, it's time to align your body with your mind, it's hero time
it's time, it's time to align your body with your mind, it's hero time
'coz when you start to doubt yourself the
real world will eat you alive!
                and you know it's true!
I'm talking to you: hero time starts right now! Yeah, hero time, yeah,
time to shine, hey, hero time!

if ya think you've got 100 years to mess around: you're wrong!
                this time it's real, y o u r t i m e i s n o w . . . it's hero time!
Yeah, hero time, hey, time to shine, yeah, hero time, yeah!

hard times are gettin' harder, the liars are acting strong
you better get a grip on yourself or you won't be around too long
it's hero time, hey, time to shine, yeah,
hero time, yeah, hero time, yeah!
it's hero time, it's hero time, time to
                shine, shine, shine, shine, shine!
                oh yeah! (X3)

                [ Lyrics provided by www.mp3lyrics.org ]
no such thing as spare time, no such thing as free time
no such thing as down time
all you got is life time... go! 'coz it's hero time, 'coz it's time to
                shine
'coz it's time to go, go, go! yeah, hou!

                when you're gone, you're so gone (X2)
you've got it now, it's time to go
hero time starts right now! yeah, aha..! ...change it!

I got grace in times of friction, I got truth in times of fiction
I've got no time for the hype... suicide!? I'm not that type...
I got no time for drug addiction, no time for smoke and booze
too strong for a shortened life span, I've got no time to lose!
It's time to shine, yeah, it's hero time, yeah, it's hero time, yeah,
                yeah!

when you start to doubt yourself the
real world will eat you alive! yeah!
you could spend your entire walking
around, coward: or you can get up!
get up, get up, get up, get up! it's time to shine! yeah...

Here's a song I wrote for FUZZBUBBLE that I really like the lyrics to.
My favorite of all the lyrics I've ever written. More than a few people have told me that this song has gotten them through some hardcore stuff. I wish I could channel like this all the time when I write lyrics....

                Ordinary by Jim Bacchi

Yeah we all have our big ugly egos
                to live for;
                And to trip over…

And we all keep a face in a jar
                by the door;
                To hide the bruises….

And we all have a chip on our shoulder,
                that weighs like a boulder;
                Like a storm…

And we all have a God
                with the words of wisdom we ignore;
                Regretfully so….

                You may be right;
                I may just be ordinary.
                But I hope you’re wrong;
                So I’ll scratch, and I’ll scream;

                But I won’t be ordinary… No.

And we all wake up scared
                from our tarred and feathered dreams;
                Beautiful nightmares.

And we all come out brave,
                from our Superman experience;
Heroes in the mirrors in our rooms.

And we all have those days
                When we’re bad, bad people;
                So, so evil…

And we all have those days
                When we save somebody’s life.
                And never know it.

                You may never know it.

                You may be right;
                I may just be ordinary.
                But I hope you’re wrong;
                So I’ll scratch, and I’ll scream;

                But I won’t be ordinary… No.

                Ordinary… No.

                You may be right;
                I may just be ordinary.
                But I hope you’re wrong;
So I’ll scratch, and I’ll scream, but I won’t be

                Ordinary.

                And I won’t be ordinary…no.
                And I won’t be ordinary…no.

                But we all feel… Ordinary.
                Sometimes… Ordinary.
                But we all feel… Ordinary.
                Sometimes… Ordinary.
                But we all feel… Ordinary.
                Sometimes… Ordinary.
                But we all feel… Ordinary.
                Sometimes… Ordinary.

Oh, I agree. Me too. Just had to list them for the sake of the subject.

Actually, this category seems the most subjective to personal opinion.

Someone might feel DANCING QUEEN by ABBA gets them fired up and inspired to burn up the dance floor, while another person might feel that same song makes them want to burn off their own ears.

There are several Lee Kernaghan songs of inspiration. He's an amazing songwriter. Here are a couple of those encouraging a helping hand and recognising general folk for a job well done.

                        An Ordinary Bloke

                        Album: Electric Rodeo
                        By: Lee Kernaghan

Jack can you tell me, I don't understand
Why you're breaking your back out on this wretched land
Why do you do it so though with so little to show
He shrugged his shoulders and said, it's just what i know

And out in the scrub, he's sinking a bore
He's coverd in grease and his knuckles are raw
But he won’t pack it in 'til hte brown water flows
Ask him why and he'll tell you, it's just what he knows

                        CHORUS
He's just an ordinary bloke, and he's doing us proud
What he's putting in keeps the wheels going round
Every day he'll be out there, battling or broke
But he shoulders the country, this ordinary bloke

A neghbour calls up, says he'll need every man
There's a scrub fire burning and it’s got out of hand
He'll help out his mate, it’s just how it goes
And he won't count the cost, it's just what he knows

                        REPEAT CHORUS

When war broke out in Europe came the call to enlist
And that brave Aussie boy with that big heart of his
Had something called honor etched in his bones
And he laid down his life, doing just what he knows

                        REPEAT CHORUS

                        Like Angels

                        Album: The New Bush
                        By Lee Kernaghan

                        Been haulin cross this country,
                        Chasin down a dream
                        Played every bar and rodeo,
                        And everywhere between
                        Broken down and busted
                        Ridin on my luck
The man said if you want it
You gotta want it bad enough

                        CHORUS

Sometimes you rise, sometimes you fall
Can break your heart when you hit that wall
Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose
It can leave you lying black and bruised
But someday, we’re gonna fly like angels

You turn the ground and plant the seed,
                        Sometimes you wonder why
When the devil wind just laughs at you
                        And bleeds the soil dry
It hits you like a freight train
It kicks you in the guts
But you look the devil in the eye
You wont get there giving up

                        SOLO

                        Piece by piece
                        The walls come down
                        And I believe one day
                        We’ll take this town

                        Shake on It

                        Album: 1959
By Garth Porter, Lee Kernaghan, Colin Buchanan

There'd be a blue out the back
And we'd all rush from the bar to take a look
                        Drover Pat and Billy argued
Been drinkin' in the heat all afternoon
They were rollin in the dirt, fists were flyin',
                        Things were gettin' rough,
                        When billy stated bleedin',
The publican said fellas break it up

                        CHORUS:

                        Shake on it,
                        Just put it there
That's the way it’s always been round here
                        You can trust a man
When he held out is hand
And said let's shake on it

                        They were battered and briused
When Pat and Billy picked themselves up
                        They looked each other over
Two friends appeared from behind the sweat and dust
Billy picked up his hat and clipped his old mate on the ear
And said we'll call it a draw Pat,
But I reckon you owe me a beer

                        CHORUS

Now the years have rolled by
                        And they still disagree
But that old handshakes as firm
                        As it used to be

                        CHORUS

                        Spirit of the Bush

Album and EP Single: Spirit of the Bush
(Trio with Lee, Adam Brand and Steve Forde)
By Lee Kernaghan, Colin Buchanan and Garth Porter 2007

                        (Lee)
                        He’s staring down the barrel
                        Of another desperate day
                        Pulls on his boots
                        He can’t walk away

                        He’s running on empty
                        He’s knocked about and bent
                        But he’ll still be standing
                        When the river runs again

                        Chorus

Is the spirit in the rock?
                        Or pass the hat around
Is it freedom on the Wallaby?
Or a dusty patch of ground
                        Is it waltzing Matilda?
Or a hand upon your shoulder
Is this, the spirit of the bush?

                        (Adam)
                        She stares at empty cupboards
                        Just like the day before
                        It’s been so long
                        She can’t take it anymore

                        (Adam, Lee on harmony)
But she digs a little deeper
                        And somehow finds the strength
                        (Lee) She keeps believeing
There will be better days ahead
                        Chorus

Is the spirit in the rock?
                        Or pass the hat around
Is it freedom on the Wallaby?
Or a dusty patch of ground
                        Is it waltzing Matilda?
Or a hand upon your shoulder
Is this, the spirit of the bush?

                        Fiddle bridge

                        Narration

(Lee) Was it there when young Ned Kelly
                        Stood up for those oppressed

(Adam) Or when the brave young ANZACS
Put their courage to the test

(Steve) Or is it out there with the battler
When he gives it one last try

                        (Lee) Through the darkest moments
                        You see the spirit shine

                        Chorus

                        Repeat Chorus

                        Fiddle bridge, end

And another one that wouldn't fit in the last thread:

                        HatTown

Album: HatTown & The Big Ones
By: Lee Kernaghan, Garth Porter & Colin Buchanan

I was born in a hat town, raised on the Warrego
It's hard out here, but you tough it out like an old brigalow
From the back of the channel country across the western plains
The roads are straight and dusty an the folks are much the same

Roots run strong and deep out here in a hat town
And we'll carry on down through the years in a hat town
Well it might be Thargomidah, it might be Barclay Downs
If there's a pub and a store and not much more
You're livin' in an old hat town

Stuck out in a heat haze on a half mile sixty zone
Just a rag tag bunch of buildings made of wood and tin and stone
But there's a swag of stories and most of them are true
Of how the locals pass the hat around and pull each other through

Roots run strong and deep out here in a hat town
And we'll carry on down through the years in a hat town
Well it might be Thargomidah, it might be Barclay Downs
If there's a pub and a store and not much more
You're livin' in an old hat town

                        Well we're rouseabouts and drovers,
                        We’re bushies tried and true
And we're out here for the long haul,
                        We’re not just blowin' through

Roots run strong and deep out here in a hat town
And we'll carry on down through the years in a hat town
From the back of the channel country and across the dusty downs
If there's a pub and a store and not much more
You're livin' in an old hat town

That song makes me cry every time I hear it. Maybe cause it came from one of those chick flicks that are meant to make you cry. OK, maybe it's a girl thing......

                              Great Gig in the Sky
                              By: Pink Floyd

"And I am not frightened of dying, any time will do, I
don't mind. Why should I be frightened of dying?
There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime."

"If you can hear this whispering you are dying."

"I never said I was frightened of dying."

                              (Instrumental)

It's the vocals that are truly inspirational!
The ones after the intro listed, I mean.
Life is either an adventure... or you're not doing it right!!!
