    Smoked Salmon

This is not for me. I am a peasant and don't eat the stuff. My salmon comes out of tins, is mixed with vinegar and pepper and then spead on bread.

This is a simple recipe which I make for friends.

I slice the salmon as thinly as I can and suspend it over a pan which has brown sugar happily smoking away. I usually cover this mess with a frying pan and open all the windows.
This only takes a few minutes.
Then I use the frying pan and smear it with a wipe of fish oil. I put some chopped red onion and finely chopped red bell pepper in with it.
Lastly go in a cup of shrimps.

This mixture is put onto the smoked salmon and then made into rolls. (A bit like sausages).

Our lot our having a bit of a party tonight but with it being Friday, they like fish.

Served with water biscuits and cold Country Manor Wine.

Total cost for approx 8 people is about £6.

The fish chowder grew all out of proportion.

It was too liquid so I added more potatoes. It was then too fishy so I added more liquid. Then it was too liquid so I added some instant potato flakes. Then it was too thick but I stopped.

      The forever soup.

We are still on the 'forever' soup'. It'll be even better the second day.

Chicken Salad Sandwich from This Is It Bakery & Deli in Kakaako.

Kinda pricey, but a very large (and good) sandwich, with potato salad and a pickle. The last time I ordered there, it also came with half a pastry for dessert.

I SAW A WRAP!!! Well...I saw a poster of one, anyway...big deal for France. It was a McDonald's poster, for a chunk of breaded and deep fried chicken, served with BBQ sauce.

In the U.S., McDonalds sells the "snack wraps" with various sauces: ranch, honey mustard and chipotle bbq. And, we have the choice of grilled or "crispy" (breaded and fried!). McDs uses a small, flour tortilla.

                              Lentil soup.

Into the crockpot went...potatoes, lentils, onion, garlic, leeks, carrots, bayleaves, thyme, salt and pepper, chicken stock cubes, red wine vinegar, and water.

We had it 'whole' for dinner last night, and puréed, with the addition of fried hotdog slices in it, for lunch. It might have been good with spaetzle added.

                              Yoghurt cake for dessert.

Mix one pot of yoghurt, one of oil, two of sugar, three of flour, a pinch of salt, a tablespoon of baking powder, and two eggs. Mix and bake as usual.
