It looks pixelated because the images hosted are only 72 DPI. Otherwise the lines would be cleaner.

I really like - more like LOVE this one. I'd put this on my wall. The flag on back is great.

                Looks like watercolor again.

I really love this angle of the boat. I'd like to try applying some other filters to this one. Great shot!

This one is interesting. It's workable as line art in Illustrator.

All of these would make one mighty fine graphical element in the masthead (no pun intended) for a maritime-related website.

Auntie, I agree, the first one is also a favorite of mine.

I like the above too. It has substance.

Cool, Pomai. (And I love your shot of Rocky in front of the lighthouse. That's a rarely seen view of it.)
Kodak's EasyShare software let me do that same sailboat photo in Cartoon and Coloring Book formats, with just a click of one button. Photobucket is down for maintenance, so I can only post the thumbnails you'll have to click to enlarge:

                        Really cool stuff there!

I seriously need to get in tune with that program.

Here is a simple thing that can yield spectacular results.
Herewith the original digital photo taken with a 1.3 megapixel Fuji camera.
The baby is 3 days old lying on the couch with a dark blue terry cloth towel just in case she throws up. (and she did that a LOT)

Here is the same photo, rotated, cropped and changed to black and white

It does not take complicated high priced software or a 10 megapixel camera to create classic looking photographs. I like the 60's style "LOOK" magazine black and white photos. They seem to transcend time. See next post for another example.

Here are 2 more. The story here is that when my son was 8 yrs.old, I gave him a cheap 1.0 (one) megapixel digital camera, some rechargeable batteries and a 64mb flash card and told him to shoot as many pictures as he wanted to. Well, those 1 mpxl shots looked pretty horrible by any standard. Then one day I hit the switch in my photo edit program to convert to black and white. Presto! instant classic photos. They had the same look, grainy texture and feel of my younger days when I shot Tri-X pan pushed to 800 iso. To my eye it has the look of LIFE magazine photographs from the 60's.

Here is a self portrait of the boy.

Here is a photo of sister taken by my 8yr old boy

The cool thing here is that most rudimentary photo edit software that comes bundled with digital cameras can do this "classic" effect. Once it is converted to BW, then adjust the brightness, contrast, etc. till you get a pleasing effect. It's like working in a darkroom only instantly.

Lots of excellent shots! Great shots of the moving boats. The black and white treatments really give an artistic feel. My favorite has to be the one of the kids with one leaning in for some shave ice. Priceless.

I just got back from a conference in Las Vegas. Here are a couple pics. The first is of a neon lit wall at NewYork New York Casino. The second is a wide angle looking down Las Vegas Blvd from the Stratosphere Tower.
