Ain't no amount of drilling gonna get us out of this mess, and prices will NEVER go down overall, nor will the prices on goods that are petrol based or use petrol to get them made/proccessed/delivered/etc.
And McBush won't be the man to do anything about it.
It's a monumental task to pull us out of this tailspin and will be beyond most anyone at this point.

Each individual must CHOOSE for themselves to limit their dependence on oil. The alternatives have been around for 30 years. Solar energy, Solar Hot Water, Wind Energy, public transit, higher mileage vehicles, electric vehicles, plant a vegetable garden, etc etc etc.

Most consumers are idiots. But they are learning slowly.

The lessons were spelled out in the '70s, in many drastic ways, yet here we find ourselves deeper in it than possibly imagined. Most consumers are beyond stupid and aren't interested in learning to even save their own ass, but, that's America for you.

                        Too too true.

Then again, some of us don't have the choice because of our income. Only the very rich can afford latest "green" technology. If the government can help us subsidize for green technology, such as hybrid vehicles or photovoltaic, then we might have the incentive to move forward.

Otherwise, we'll have to wait like I'm waiting for the price of HD TV (hopefully 100% of all units in the market are "energy star" certified) to drop as we near the February 2009 deadline.

No surprise. World leaders sense a naivete in Obama. Meaning they could manipulate him better than McCain.

They should never been given the games, and now that they are going back on their word of promising no internet censorship, they should have the games taken away. But the gutless IOC wouldn't dream of it.
