An enterprising Korean journalist sneaked out some footage of the secret practice for the opening ceremonies - was on YouTube for a while, until the Chinese pressured for removal ("This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by a third party," it says). Article (with links to some footage) here.

Better to let the people and athletes speak their voices rather than the spineless IOC's. DON'T GO.

Better yet, stage civil right rallies in-between games there, in memory of Tiananmen Square.

        From a few moments ago:

Which is your favorite Olympic sport?

        Gymnastics... 35%... 90,129

        Track and field... 22%... 55,074

        Swimming... 19%... 48,507

        Watching TV... 24%... 60,592

        Total Votes: 254,302
I didn't know that "Watching TV" was considered a "sport." In that case, most of us get a workout daily!

Just out of curiosity, LikaNui, why did you choose to create a thread dedicated to reporting the results of a mainstream media poll? Doesn’t the (C)able (N)ews (N)etwork do enough shameless self-promotion globally, including their own website in which these polls are available 24/7? I’m just trying to grasp the relevance of this topic, aside from the fact that it appears to have generated little interest since its inception (besides from yourself).

We can’t be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans.

Because it gives readers different things to think about and to discuss.

I’m just trying to grasp the relevance of this topic, aside from the fact that it appears to have generated little interest since its inception (besides from yourself).
And yet you continue to read it. Is someone holding a gun to your head and forcing you to read this thread? If not, then I'll assume that you're an adult and capable of independent thinking, so if you find the thread to be upsetting you, here's a clue... DON'T CLICK ON IT.
            There. That was easy!

Only the very rich can afford latest "green" technology.

Ah yes, therein lies one of the great paradoxes of liberal philosophy. Company line states that it is good for the planet to buy "green" technologies. Company line also says it's shameful to make lots of money. That's why you see smoky old Volvo's with 'Save The Planet' stickers on the outside.

So how do they resolve that one?

Just more cog diss from the left.

I presume most of you saw the stories today about the guys in Georgia who claim to have a frozen Bigfoot creature.
                  So, CNN's latest poll:

Do you believe creatures like Bigfoot exist?

                  Yes... 43%... 86,939

                  No... 57%... 112,986

                  Total Votes: 199,925
I'm really surprised that almost half said yes. I would've thought only 10% or so.

                    Re: CNN polls

My memories as a kid are seeing Andre the Giant dressed up as Bigfoot wrestling Lee Majors as the Six Million Dollar Man fighting somewhere in the woods. I mean, I saw it as millions of others did, so it must have happened.

As for the recent find, seems like another hoax to me. The old Bigfoot footage floating around is really creepy but supposedly was a hoax too. Of course what was "proven" to be a hoax may not have been.

Anybody see the Capricorn One movie about the bogus moon landing?

As I said when I started this thread, it's fascinating to me how the early votes on any given issue in these CNN polls rarely vary as time passes.
For instance, compare the numbers above to what they were over 27 hours ago:

Do you believe creatures like Bigfoot exist?

                        Yes... 43%... 86,939

100,000 votes later, and only 1% change.

Jay Leno once wanted to know why a family would take in Bigfoot to live with them in Harry & the Hendersons, but would never take in a homeless person into their home.

                                Re: CNN polls

Interesting... the MSN home page has an almost identical poll, with a fairly different result so far. MSN frames the question thusly:

The President has completed 100 days in office. Based on his performance so far, what grade would you give him?

As of 9:00am HST, here are the results:

                                A .......... 52,298 votes / 33.8%

                                B .......... 13,715 votes / 8.9%

                                C .......... 9,833 votes / 6.4%

                                D .......... 21,160 votes / 13.7%

                                F .......... 57,661 votes / 37.3%

                                Total votes so far: 154,667

Seems to be a much more polarized result... and perhaps reflective of different user demographics for the two websites.

                                How you figure?
To be, or musubi... What was da question?
