  • The sincerest form of flattery...

Among dozens and dozens of examples of purloined prose at the oahuxyz.com site is this amusing piece of plagiarism, considering the subject matter:

    Star-Bulletin version

    OahuXYZ version

What makes this theft even more fascinating is the Website owner's disclaimer:

wow. i don't think i could find such blatant plagiarism "amusing," as you call it. i'd want to rip his writing hand off, if i were in your position. did you even make a complaint about it to the site's owner?

      Wow. That's lame, dude

I did notice he used a different font from the SB version. Perhaps that falls under "fair use"?

Re: The sincerest form of flattery...

A while back, a column writer friend told me about a service he used called Google Alert (from a company independent from Google). I know very little about it, but for those interested:

        http://www.googlealert.com/

It looks like Google themselves are offering something similar:

        http://www.google.com/alerts

Basically you take a juicy sentence from your piece and use that as the search/alert term.
