  • Hawaii Aviation History Website

If you like looking at old photos of all of Hawaii's airports and the many airlines and other types of aircraft that have come and gone to Hawaii, check this site out:

    http://test.hawaii.gov/hawaiiaviation

It has hundreds of old photos, mostly of airports around the state and a lot of other interesting stuff if you are an aviation buff.

I found the aircraft accident/incident chronology to be the most interesting, even though it lacks some info of some infamous crashes, like the Aloha Island Air twin Otter plane that crashed into Molokai killing all aboard around 1989.
    I'm still here. Are you?

Alas, the site has many errors.

Perhaps that is why it has "test" as its subdomain.... I hope they can fix the errors, whatever they are... like I saw some aiport pictures misidentified... Upolu Point stuck in Waimea-Kohala Airport... stuff like that.... I am sure there are more boo boo's.

For now I just like looking at the old photos.

Many of the old photos, for example, that identify aircraft in Hawaii, were actually taken at Wright Field, Ohio....

Must have been the time they were serving various locations in the Pacific.

The late Mason Altiery narrated a show on Hawaii Aviation History many years ago, that was on 16mm film as I recall. When I get a chance to take a look at it I'll post some video or something for all to see.
