Perhaps it is that AOL users fit a more conservative profile. But this poll is showing McCain with nearly a 30 point lead. Gotta love that.

Finally, you make a more intelligent observation on the single poll in the world which produces such skewed results.

We can’t be so fixated on our desire to preserve the rights of ordinary Americans.

Again, explanation why I do not put faith in polls. For every result you find in one direction, you can find another that says the opposite. Not to mention the lack of any form of "control" to at least one of the polls cited above.

If only we used polling to predict the weather...I can imagine a lot of ruined picnics.

A good negative political ad shows an opponent to be a hypocrite or scary. Why did the ad agency for Sen. McCain's camp think that relating Paris Hilton and Britney Spears to Obama is a bad thing?

Much of McCain’s demographic is the older, more conservative crowd — two things Hilton and Spears represent the opposite of. By invoking them, McCain’s handlers are hoping the commercial persuades voters that popularity is the equivalent of youth and naïveté. IMHO, it is a stretch and an act of desperation fueled by the McCain camp’s knowledge they are behind in fundraising and the polls. National coverage of the commercial seems to agree.

All McCant has left is a desperate hope that playing to the incomparable stupidity of the American people will give him a chance at replicating a 3rd Bush term.

With BO constantly talking himself out of a slam dunk win, JM might be lucky.

If that is the case, McCain better be sure his older supporters live long enough to vote this year.

To be brutally honest, the idiots who drummed up that commercial should have been fired for sheer stupidity.

I find it very telling that even former McCain campaign advisor John Weaver has been denouncing the latest attack commercials against Obama as being "childish."

But guess what? The attack ads had the desired effect, with McCain actually pulling even with Obama in Gallup's daily tracking poll on Friday. McCain's strategists may take some satisfaction that these latest commercials have taken whatever momentum Obama gained following his highly publicized overseas trip.

But the effectiveness of negative ads has a very short shelf-life. And if the McCain campaign continues in this vein, there will be a backlash.

Frankly, I'm disappointed in the Arizona senator. Had he engaged in an honorable presidential campaign but lost, I would have attributed it not so much to McCain personally, but to the fact that the American public was fed up with 8 years of Bush policies and that any and all GOP candidates were doomed. It would be a shame for McCain to both lose the presidential race and have his image tarnished by this kind of mudslinging.

Playing on incomparable stupidity--The new McCain ad picturing Obama as Moses, code to the Christian reich that Obama = the anti Christ. Its impossible to miss that message watching the ad in that context. They carried Ohio in 2004 (at least claimed to) as a result of assuring the Christian reich that Kerry would take away their Bibles if he won. Idiots: a well that never goes dry for the Republican'ts.

Nearly a week after John McCain released the now infamous Britney Spears-Paris Hilton ad, the controversy is still going strong — though probably not in the way the McCain camp had envisioned. Paris’ mother Kathy Hilton expression of outrage and disappointment with McCain could hit him in the jugular due to an “inconvenient truth”: Kathy and her husband have donated $4,600 to the McCain camp since he declared his candidacy.

McCain better start getting rid of the people that is hurting his campaign. I doubt they could feign ignorance, pleading they didn't know that the Hiltons are one of his biggest contributors.
