The Dollar Theater have changed ownership from Wallace to Hollywood. I think the Wallace folk took the crying baby message with them when they left.
You know the saying, "You get what you paid for." You pay a buck to see a movie that is no longer on mainstream box office and its DVD version is coming out shortly if not already on the store shelves. You pay a buck for a movie that have been repeatedly played before that you can obviously see wears and tears on the Dollar Theater's screen, both visually and sound-wise (there are times when I have to talk to the manager because the volume level dropped or suddenly becomes too loud it could blow their own speakers).

Tessie, "Nuf Ced" McGreevey shouted
We're not here to mess around
Boston, you know we love you madly
Hear the crowd roar to your sound
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you
You know we couldn't live without you
Tessie, you are the only only only
Memories of the drive-in are more good than bad. It was a major form of entertainment back in the day. It was all we could afford when our son was a baby. We could take him with us and get out to see a movie. We'd bring our own food - usually made a picnic dinner out of it. And, I want to state for the record that when we were dating, I had the only boyfriend (now husband of 30+ yrs) who actually wanted to watch the movie. I guess that was irritating, but he made up for it afterward
.
Just a note from olden memories...
My good buddy James and I would go to daytime movies on days off (especially during the summers) to drink beer and enjoy the air conditioning! We'd sit in the last row and had a lot of fun. We'd talk, but since only a few folks were in there and usually not near, it didn't bother me. Can't speak for the others though.![]()
Life is either an adventure... or you're not doing it right!!!
Oh Yeah!
When we could still bring in backpacks,
BTW- How come women can still take fairly large "purses" in but, guys can't take backpacks???
That's sexist! Right?!
Life is either an adventure... or you're not doing it right!!!
Hey Mel! reading your gripes too...heres a few additions..
Do parents think their kid is going to sleep in a darkened movie theater with the volume of the movie BLASTING?!?!?!
I think you may be referring to Hollywood...howzabout this one...off ALL seats empty around you...the LATE BIRDS decide to SIT in the chair IN FRONT OF YOU BLOCKING YO D*** VIEW!!!!
You wonder about the street peddlers now...instead of a $1 for a burger....they use it to watch a movie????????????? AUWE!!!!
Increasing costs of movies? could it be labor to pay the theater workers and costs of equipment and merchandise for the concessions? As for the dollar ones, I kinda soak it in cuz the amt they charge for drinks and pcorn is similar to Consolidated and Regal too...but Hollys only charges $1 for admission.
BIG GRIPE at concession...MAN O MAN!!!! butter is LAME!!!! Store bought popcorn...at LEAST you can TASTE butter!!!!
