  • Re: HT's Photo Sharing Thread - Chapter 4

I love the colorful abstracts above this post.

Here is something I shot with my low-end Sony Cybershot U30 2.1 megapixel pocket digital camera:

    Sunset @ Kaka'ako Waterfront Park, today January 8, 2009.
    I'm still here. Are you?

I snapped these right after breakfast. The worst lighting is the middle of the day, but.

Yeah! I go there every time we are on O`ahu. I even have a t-shirt from there.

One time, we got there a little bit late during lunch time, and the staff had to apologize and told us they couldn't serve us, because the cops had just been there. We must have looked a little stunned, and they assumed we were thinking the worst, as they quickly added ... that the cops had bought ALL the remaining plate lunches!

It's one of the islands off Lā`ie Point.

Time for you to go home and discover what else you missed.

Yep, it's one of the few places on the windward side to get a really good breakfast. And worth the drive. Good food, a gorgeous drive, and excellent staff too. Every time I walk in they say "Same as last time, Uncle?" And they always remember correctly. I messed 'em up today when I changed my usual order.

We must have looked a little stunned, and they assumed we were thinking the worst, as they quickly added ... that the cops had bought ALL the remaining plate lunches!
You must've gotten there just before they closed. 2pm, I think.

Excellent. Then my work on this planet is done.

Leo is right, it's a little island off Laie Point. As you're driving up Kam Highway toward the north shore, turn right on Anemoku Street, which is directly across from the Laie Shopping Center. Anemoku is only about a block long and it dead-ends at Naupaka Street. Turn right and go to the end of the street, where there's a real nice area to park and see the islands in those photos. (All three of those shots were taken from standing in the same spot.)

I swear, I went all ova, and nothing like that!
The secret is exploring every little backroad and side street. That's been a lifelong habit of mine in all my travels. Amazing the things you find when you venture off the beaten path!

Very nice photo. Looks like it's right on the edge of day.

Great colors and I like how the sun kind of starred-out.

Nice ones, Likanui. It looks like the Menehune have been out on that island building hoodoos, too. There was a scene from the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall out at Laie Point.

These are for Tatt and anyone else who hasn't been to Laie Point. It's an unusually calm, flat and voggy day, due to the Kona conditions, but.

Alright, I finally set up an account at Flickr. I am trying to post my first picture. Besides, we need a few more Maui pics yay! I think it worked! This was taken a few years ago off Kam I. Practicing for the big race.

I like the color of the reflections in the water, and how the paddlers are heading towards the sun.
