Thanks, Mel, although my kolea shots were just quick snapshots I grabbed before it got scared and moved too far away. Tatt's photos are art.
Loved your photo of the Kukuihaele coastline, even with those ever-intrusive utility lines.

TATT, is that the National Cathedral in DC? (I sung in a choir there way back in 1976.)

I haven't had much luck shooting kolea this year as I did last year. Of course I did not really try. They are kind of elusive when you get close.

I agree on the power lines. Essential utilities get in way of scenic photographs.
        I'm still here. Are you?

I like how you've got at least two airplane types there. Two "T" tails and two inverted "T"s. (Position of the horizontal stabilizer.)

Nice pic, Mel. My girls would want to visit and play in the snow.

Ididn't realize each post was limited to 3 pictures, so there's the 4th from the last post:

A plant that very few people grow nowadays....
Many people do not even know it exists.
A relitive of white ginger it has a better fragerance.
Also related to the plainer yellow ginger.
It's major flaw is that the blosoms do not last.

That which is precious, but ephemeral, is all the more so precious:

Usually I'm driving to work, but for once, after six years in Waikiki, here's a sunrise...

For some reason, it reminds me of an alien invasion in some way. Perhaps in some way it was. I was in a moving car at the time, so that's the best I could get. I suppose some would consider The Landmark Bldg to be an alien affront in its own right. :-D

So many amazing photos. All are great!

Mel, love that pic of the green field overlooking the coast of the Big Island.

Tattrat, all three of those pics are excellent. My favorite is the Cathedral, but the highway lights and sunset is a close second.

AbsolutChaos, that sunrise does look like an invasion! Draw the slingshots or run for the jungle!

This thread never fails to please.

A while back, when I was still in Cincinnati, I got ahold of a lomography camera, the kind with four lenses so that it takes four shots on a single negative. Lomography is very low tech, so there is no aperature or adjusting of any sort, like using a point and shoot. For these particular shots I actually went by the literal shoot-from-the-hip theory, not even looking where my camera was pointing when I pressed the shutter.

Went to Alaska over Christmas. Here's a few of the pics.

                              1. My 6 year old nephew demonstrating his self described "Mad Skills".
                              2. Young moose
                              3. Last run of the night at the ski slope on the lift

                                1. Hallway in the Anchorage airport. The ceiling lights depict the Northern Lights. They softly pulse and the colors shift forward.
                                2. When my nephews saw I had taken this picture, they laughed uproariously noting that I had photographed a lingerie store.
                                3. Looking across Cook Inlet from Beluga Point.
