Nice shots of the Kailua Parade, Mel/Rabbett. That clown dude looks kinda' scary though. lol

Last night I watched the 4th of July fireworks display at Maunalua Bay Beach Park in Hawaii Kai. Here's some shots from that event...

    In front of Roy's...

The tents were set up on the grassy area just left of the main entrance...

    More on next post...

Check out that squall off shore of Niu Valley...

The tenants occupying the tents included Bubbie's Ice Cream, Na' Ono, Hawaii Kai Community Church, Kale's Natural Food, KFC-Hawaii and a Gene Ward...

The barge that staged the pyrotechnics was quite close to shore, near the Henry J. Kaiser Estate on the shore of Portlock...

The fireworks display lasted a good 20 minutes and was great. The grand finale went OFF. I hope they do it again next year!

Pomai, I did not go to the Kailua parade which means I did not take any photos there. Rabb is an old friend and he always gets a comprehensive shoot of the Kailua 4th of July parade every year since it just travels right next to his house.

On the other hand, I like your photos taken at yesterday's 4th of July thing over in Hawaii Kai.

I shot the fireworks at Ala Moana Center last night from a bad location (had to avoid the glaring parking lot light poles) and yielded only a few good shots. Here is one of them:

Lasted about 15 to 18 minutes. I heard the same fireworks company handled Ala Moana and Hawaii Kai.

Whoever that company is, did a fantastic job on the Hawaii Kai display. I'd hire them again.

Some shots at Kuliou'ou beach park at dusk before "the show"...

Paperless firecrackers, ground bloom flowers, morning glory sparklers and some fountains...

I'd never seen the one in Kailua before until this year.
These guys behind us weren't too excited...

But I enjoyed the mellow atmosphere as we waited on the beach:

It seemed they were having technical difficulties in Kailua. There were huge pauses in between episodes of fireworks. And I don't recall seeing a grand finale either. Here's one less-than-lovely shot anyway, taken from my farther away vantage point:

I was out on Kaneohe Bay yesterday, so I posted some new photos (including a couple of Bayfest 2008) over in the Hawaii Boating Photos thread.
Got some interesting shots of the Ko`olau mountains from the water too, including these two:

    And this one, with H-3:

Remember, those were taken from a couple of miles away.

    That boy is adorable, Asuhoru

Were you kneeling or lying down, to get that shot? What camera, etc. did you use? Did that come from a single shot or a burst of shots? You captured his smile perfectly.

Little children generally like firemen. Shows in that photo. Nice one. Here's a couple of garden shots I recently took:
