Here's a photo my friend (Chris-BBWolf+3Pigs) took yesterday.
Twenty of us hiked around the coast of Makapuu from Pele's Chair.

Excellent shots, Tattrat! That little spider's got a great face.

My dinky point-n-shoot doesn't compare to a $900 DSRL with $1200 glass, so I have to stick with "artsy" photos which play up my camera's strengths.

I pass by this spot at least 4 times a day, never noticing it. One day the sunlight glinted off it just right, and I started taking shots:

I didn't notice the richness of this reddish brown when I took the shot. It was a pleasant discovery when I zoomed and cropped the JPEG:

A bit over exposed, but I love how the shadows "change texture":

Cool pics, MyopicJoe! The first one looks like a spot of hot solder on a piece of raku pottery. What are those first two of?

I haven't really had time to take a lot of photos just recently, but here's some older ones.
                      1) Panda at Sandy Eggo Zoo
                      2) Girl and her dog relaxing in Dam Square, Amsterdam, NL
                      3) Turtle - This guy was crossing the highway and I stopped and helped him on his way, but he had to agree to a photograph.

I love your picture of the relaxing woman, Jim. Her red hair, along with her red sweater. Her horizontal shoulders and arms flow with the horizontal stair edges, accentuating the feeling of relaxation; while the triangle formed by her skirt breaks the lines up and keeps them from becoming overwhelming. Her dog has the perfect lazy face.

I see what you mean by hot solder. I didn't think of that.

Both pictures are of a tree, which had one of its branches sawed off. The resin it excreted dried a long time ago, staining the light brown wood with dark browns, purples, and reds. From the right angle it's rather glossy, which picks up some sky blue.

Here's another shot of the scar:

                        And here's another mystery photo:

Plumeria I saw at the Hilton this past weekend.

Bird on display at the Hilton. I forget what kind of bird it was.

Your camera captured the green very nicely.

This a great abstract. It looks like some tree trunk and maybe a cage or a heavy wire fence in the background. The foreground looks maybe like some kind of nautical thing. What is it?
