Re: Hawaiian Cultural Festival in Seattle

I'll be performing there twice, again ---

    Fisher Lawn Music Tent:
12:00 - Ke Kai Malino (playing bass)

    Fisher Pavilion:
6:00 - Seattle Ukulele Players Association (playing `ukulele & leading)

...and maybe joining in with other bands, like Naki`i - it happens...
In addition, my mother, daughter & granddaughter will be there (now that they all live up this way), celebrating birthdays that weekend for two of the three.

I'll make sure to pass this info along to the several Maui friends who have wound up in the Seattle area.

As far as the "lua demonstrations," all I can say is potty on!

Planning is underway for this year's event - and the headliner will be KAPENA. Also appearing is KELI`I KANEALI`I and several Puget Sound area Hawaiian music acts and hula halau. (This year, in addition to performing in a couple of bands, I'm the Entertainment Coordinator - woo-hoo.)

The date is Sunday, September 9, 2012, at the Seattle Center (home of the Space Needle and the 1962 World's Fair - the Seattle Center is celebrating the 50th anniversary of that event this year) - FREE of any admission charge.

This celebration of Hawaiian culture just keeps getting bigger and better - now in its fifth year!

          Cool!

Perhaps I should mention that this weekend Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR, is having their annual luau!

Since a considerable % of the students are from Hawai`i, they have a Hawai`i club and an annual Luau.

Saturday, Feb 14, 2012- Luau starts at 4:30 with entertainment to follow.

Did you mean the Seattle event or the Oregon one?

Well, tell me about the Oregon one. I think I may have heard of the Seattle one before, it seems to ring a bell. We have a timeshare in Seattle, not far from the Space Needle, so I think I'll see if I can grab a room. It sounds like great fun.

Hope we'll see you there - it's fun, it's free, and it's right by the Space Needle.

The Oregon lu`au was held in February:
