        Re: Little League

I just wanted to give a big thank you to HTers who updated this thread with scores. I was away from a TV all morning and while we had the game on AM radio in the car, it was really hard to hear with a screaming 3 year old.

Woohoo! Congratulations to the team, coaches, and parents on a job well done!
        Tessie, "Nuf Ced" McGreevey shouted
We're not here to mess around
Boston, you know we love you madly
Hear the crowd roar to your sound
Don't blame us if we ever doubt you
You know we couldn't live without you
Tessie, you are the only only only

KITV said the same thing at 5pm. As best I can tell, the team is called the Waipi`o All-Stars but their hometown is Waipahu.
            Apparently both answers are correct.
            .
            .

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

My comment was aimed at the pronunciation!...
"WHY-pa-who", pronounced the same as "WIPE-a-who"!

Waipio, Waikele, Village Park etc all have 96797 as a zip code which comes out Waipahu. Just different sub-divisions. Even the players parents had shirts that said "Waipahu, Hawaii."

Finally a game that you could watch without being nervous as it was over after the fourth inning. Ewa Beach started the trend, now Waipio continues the U.S streak of four in a row.
Do little league uniforms still have the sponsor's name on the back? Waipahu can't use Arakawa's anymore.

                        Per Associated Press:

                        2008—Waipahu, Hawaii 12, Matamoros, Mexico 3

2007—Warner Robins, Ga. 3, Tokyo Kitasuna, Japan 2, 8 innings

                        2006—Columbus, Ga. 2, Kawaguchi City, Japan 1

                        2005—Ewa Beach, Hawaii 7, Willemstad, Curacao 6, 7 innings

I heard the same "WAI - pa - hoo" mispronunciation on ESPNews.
Born in Hawaii, too - Truss me

Neil Everett is with ESPN...but he still calls Ichiro "I-Cheer-o".

Larry Beil works in the Bay Area.

Neil Everett opens his ESPN Sportscenter broadcast with "Hey Howzit!"
I caught Larry Beil once in a while on sports talk radio with a segment called "Beg, Borrow, and Beil."
