  • Kanye West Arrested at LAX

Grammy-award winning triple-Platinum hip-hop artist Kanye West was arrested after an apparent run-in with a photographer for the tabloid gossip website tmz.com. As you can see in the footage, West and his bodyguard appear to be grabbing the camera and throwing it on the ground. According to The Los Angeles Times, tmz.com has a photographer stationed at the airport seven days a week, in order to catch celebrities in candid situations. Has the internet allowed a once mostly supermarket and late-night t.v. industry to explode into out-of-control free-for-all for paparazzi?

There's been several other times where Kanye thinks he's allowed privacy in public places. even on the streets he threatens to sue, cause "you're not allowed to video me"

You would be angry too, if you had to fly commercial and not in a private jet because of the high jet fuel prices.

Good point, Walkoff Balk. Anyway, it’s unfortunate that West and his bodyguard identified by MTV as Don Crowley, were involved in this dust-up. According to journalist Chris Harris, the celebrity musician was headed to Honolulu. Another celebrity visit to the islands could have done Hawai‘i some good at a time when our local media is revisiting the racist/porno email scandal involving Hawai‘i Tourism Authority (HTA) chief Rex Johnson.
Kanye West and his road manager, Don Crowley, were released Thursday afternoon (September 11) from the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Division on $20,000 bail following their arrests Thursday morning by Los Angeles International Airport police near the American Airlines terminal.

Not a big Kanye fan, but if you've ever been sucked in by the mindless show TMZ, which airs on KITV after the 10pm news, you'd know what a pain in the butt it is for celebs at LAX who are hounded by Paparazzi with nothing better to do than hassle them. Watch the show and you'll see why Kanye probably got ticked off at some camera guy.

And don't ask me why I watch that stupid show - maybe to see some celebrity get angry at Paparazzi stalking them???

Well, it looks like Kanye made it to Hawai‘i after all! Celebrity sightings anyone? According to e! online, after he posted bail, he decided he had enough of flying commercial, and caught a private jet from Van Nuys Airport. Sorry, Walkoff Balk. It looks like West is in fact, rich enough to burn more jet fuel.

Exactly my point! Where is the news value in photographing a celebrity in his travel hoodie just trying to catch a plane? TMZ should be thanking West and Crowley for giving the show some scandalous content to air. For those who still have no clue who Kanye West is, here’s a link to one of his biggest hits.

The TMZ show is similar to a bit on the Howard Stern program on the E channel. He would send Stuttering John to ambush celebrities at the red carpet with questions like smelling your own fart. His line of annoying questions were just to egg on and get angry responses from the celebrities.

You watch the "mindless" and "stupid" show, obviously. Thus you're implicit in the "hassling."

If there was no money in it (no viewers), it (the "hassling") wouldn't happen.

Don't like it? Don't watch the show.

And it does appear that TMZ is not getting the response they were hoping for. The TMZ staff recently expressed their disappointment over the fact that it was Crowley and not West who broke the camera.
The still camera that was broken is a Canon 40D -- retail price $1429.96. In California, someone who criminally damages property worth more than $400 can be prosecuted for felony vandalism ... Kanye and the bodyguard wrestle the camera away from the photog, but the bodyguard ends up with the camera ... Kanye is holding the light unit. We did some checking and found the light unit is only worth around $100, so here's the irony -- the bodyguard could be processed for a felony, but not Kanye.
Irony?! Try “it’s the law. Deal with it.”
