In some parts of our world there are no such things as salads. Let me give you and instance ? Parts of China where there was (and still is) no sanitation. Their defications go directly into the soil and if you ate the 'salads' there, then you would be dead from cholera or something.
Therefore, everything is cooked.

If you want a safe salad come to mine.

Of course I have to go along with the above about the dangers of eating raw meat but can I just bring this article to your attentions about a nation which have thrived on raw meat for many centuries ?

There's plenty cultures that eat raw stuff on a regular basis...sashimi or steak tartar anyone?

I wouldn't advise eating raw meat that came from one of the big processing plants or mass breeder farms/ranches though...talk about mystery meats.

In one instance, a man drained his entire water tank after finding slugs in his water supply.

That's rather scary. Does that mean everyone should check their water supply periodically?

Any new information about the 3 affected persons, including the one in the coma? Scary business. I'll be more careful now with my homegrown too... got snails and slugs already creeping around the veg. I'm not really paranoid, but I fell into the trap of "organic must mean safe"= not necessarily!
