Ewwwww! Is nothing safe to eat? I grow my own, but even then, there's stuff in the ground, the water, the air, and critter's cooties. It's a real wonder I'm not skinny! I'm gonna have to just live on chocolate.
No joking, I am hoping these folks will come out of the coma and/or get better soon.
No. Just sharing info. You can do anything you want. I am suggesting that there is a high price to be paid for becoming a "raw foodist"--which is the latest trend in Puna. And there should be an investigation of the profiteers who are pushing this fad.

Those darn Puna folk, the nerve to promote eating fresh veggies!
Now run along and play, but don’t get into trouble.
So are you suggesting that we should start frying lettuce, bake the cerlery and boil the oranges in hot water?
Baby lettuce braised in butter is tasty. Endive done the same wa is good, or you can roll a par-boiled one up in a slice of ham and then cover with a white sauce and cheese and bake it.
Celery isn't just for crunching raw with peanut butter. Baked or braised, it goes well with roasts.
Cover orange peels with hot water and then drain. Repeat twice, then simmer them gentlyin sugar syrup until tranluscent, drain, roll in sugar, dry, and eat as is, dip into melted chocolate for candy, or chop for cakes and puddings.

Hi Helen.
Every few weeks, I get my wok out . I do a stir fry for my family. The meat goes in first on a high light until it is browned and sealed.
I add:-
Grated Carrot
Chinese 5 Spice
Long shredded Celery
Chopped baby lettuce
Chopped Radish
Bean sprouts
Spring onions or Chives.
I prepare my own savoury rice (our rice is a lot different than that in Hawaii).
I add to the Bismati rice,
Tumeric.
Dried garden peas
Dried Red and Green pepper
Chopped onion
Finely shaved (I use a razor blade) garlic.
Ginger root
Sherry
Brown demorara sugar
Sea Salt.
I hope you will try it ? And enjoy with a glass of very cold, semi alcaholic wine called Concorde.
