I am assuming youre referring to the U.S. version? There is a British "The Office" which the NBC Originated from.

Interestingly (or maybe not), a lot of the funniest shows I could think of aren't sitcoms. Arrested Development and Ally McBeal, for example, are usually considered dramedies, while Gilmore Girls (a new obsession of mine) is a family drama.

3. I Love Lucy (probably the funniest ever on TV)

I'd probably rate Taxi as the funniest sitcom, but the funniest episode of any show I've ever seen on TV is easily the Seinfeld episode "The Contest". Man, I laughed so hard, I was in pain.

Ha. That's funny, 'cause I think the funniest episode of television I've seen is the one of Taxi where Jim takes the driver's license test.

Jim asks aloud, as he's taking the test, so his friends can pass him the answer: "What does a yellow light mean?"

One of his friends: "Slow down!"

Jim: "Okay. Whaaat dooooees aaaaa yyyyyeeeellloooow liiiiight meeeean?"

Friend: "Slow down!"

Jim: "Okay. Whaaaaaaaaaaat doooooooooeeees aaaaaaaaaa yyyyyyyyeeeeeeellllllloooooooowwwwwwww liiiiiiiiiiiiight meeeeeeeeeeean?"


Oh man. There's no reason for that to be as funny as it is, but it is.

A runner up would be The Middleman for the sight gags and title cards that they use, however I have only seen two episodes of this series.
