  • Taking the driving test in Hilo, what do you have to do?

HI I am new to the forums

We moved here from the UK with 4 children and finally realised how I really need to get a drivers license

I passed my knowledge test last Thursday

Now I really want to find out does anyone know what the test route is and whether they make you do manuevers like parralel parking

I will be taking it in Hilo, which is where we live.

Is it worth hiring an instructor to practise? Any recommendations?

    Thanks

Don't worry. It is NOTHING like the British test.

Last time I took the driving test was in the late 1980's. And the route one uses is dependent on where the driving test is being held.

As far as parallel parking is concerned either practice it or take the test in the smallest car you can get your hands on.

Remember to stay on the RIGHT side of the road.

Do NOT start to turn right across a crosswalk until any pedestrians have made it all the way to the other sidewalk before you begin.

the main thing you will need is your social security card...not just the number, but the card. you said you were from the UK if you are not a citizen or permanent resident with a ss card...no license.

if you have a valid UK license you can make it valid here with a international license that you must obtain in the UK.
the bigger the government the smaller the citizen.

Decades ago, some of the examiners would make the driver go up Ponahawai St. between Ululani St. and Kapiolani St., stop half-way, and kill the engine. The driver would then have to re-start the engine and resume driving.

Not too difficult with an automatic transmission, but a lot of pressure with a manual trans. Working the clutch with the accelerator was a big problem for many.

If you move from out of state (Cali), do you need to re-take the driving test?
