Should Equality and Justice Be Legalized?

I have a feeling that the civil union guys will win one day. Because they don't give up.

As a culture advances, they slowly release the grip their superstitions have on the general populace.
The Crusades ended.
The Inquisition ended.
Martin Luther forwarded the cause of religious freedom.

This injustice, too, will end. Not soon enough for some, but it's a good fight. Believe what you will, but forcing your beliefs on others is NOT something Jesus would do.

Separate is not equal by definition. I think it a mistake for gays to accept "civil unions".
Marriage is only sometimes a religious institution but always a legal one.
Equal protection under the law is a Constitutional right we all share.

If over the next 45 days Lingle does, then as The Honolulu Advertiser notes, the State House does not have the votes to override her veto. They’ve also provided a list of who voted which way.

Right NOW, TODAY? - no, they do not have the votes to override a veto. However, they only need 3 more votes to be veto proof. Who knows what can happen in 45 days? I personally believe that the votes will be there to make HB444 a law.

I believe that our legislators finally showed some backbone today. A phamplet was distributed to them a few days ago with pictures of approx. 1000 members of the community at large who support passage of this bill. There are several new phamplets planned if needed. This IS an election year and I would hope that they would realize that they need the support of the community at large to be re-elected. and the community at large, of regular people/voters DOES support this issue.

or maybe, they just decided to do the right thing. I really would prefer to believe that this is the reason for their votes today.
