The status of construction (?)

I was reading this year old article "A Dozen Reasons Not to Move to Hawaii", and a remark was made that people in the construction industry were quite busy.

I realize that a lot has changed since then, but was construction/renovation truly in so much demand last year? How about now?

My neighbor has a very large company that builds custom houses and sometimes smaller projects such as renovations. He is booked a year and a half out all with deposits paid. He is turning down work all the people who
contract through him are thrilled and happy.
