WOW, that is sad to hear! Is it getting shut down to make way for even more hotels and stuff? Any ideas? I loved it as a little oasis in the middle of all the hubbub. Those gorgeous old banyan trees are just amazing too.

From what I was told... It will be rebuilt as an open air marketplace and that the Banyans will be still there!

I missed the partial lunar eclipse that occurred early Monday morning at 2 AM... Zzzzz's got the best of me.

Also caught the partial solar eclipse on May 20.

the building, while beautiful, is so cold, and heartless. . .we have said since it's opening and getting the accont, that the building has NO soul. . even talked about it maybe being built on cursed land, LOL! honestly, though, I wouldn't be surprised. . .

This is the design of the building, by a French Architect(can't remember the name), but the roof is supposed to be reminiscent of a dove in flight, a peace dove.

Anybody know what this plant is? It's growing in our hedge.

It's almost a vine.

I thought it was cool too, however I posted it on another Hawaii forums and they started talking crap about it being a good place to get crabs and other such crap. Oh well!
Funny thing about it tho, my mom got goofy when we lived there in 79-82 and using a bunch of spray paint cans, decorated an old crappy Ford Rambler we drove here and there. It had circles and squigglies and so on all over, some even done by myself, too young to be embarrassed to ride in it yet, LOL. We called it the clown car.

I built a shade cover for my wife's garden today!
Used to have tarps, but got tired of replacing them.



The Ala Wai Community Gardens are really great.
She's had hers for 5+ years now.

My daughter Jasmine planted this tree after Christmas 1988 when she was 6 years old! It is now 60' tall. I got the DLNR to place a bench there and added my own placard many years ago. I replaced the placard with a new one today! It's near the Nature Conservancy's parking lot in Makiki.

here's from a fathers day road trip. . .all but one of these are taken in a little unincorporated town of Mobjack, VA. It's like population 40, when everybody is home. A place I spent a lot of my summers in my youth sailing, crabbing, fishing and I hadn't been back in almost 15 years.
