  • The transition from analog to digital television

Sooo ... today's the day! Hopefully everyone will be connected ASAP.

I have a question. Now that analog has been abandoned, is it possible that we'll see the rise of analog pirate television stations?

Not to nitpick, but shouldn't it be "The transition TO digital television from analog"?

Hawai`i made the transition back in January. and I have the new big screen, HDTV to prove it.

Random, I'm not certain I see a difference, but I'm open to learn new nitpicking English grammmar rules. (I already know tons, but this one escapes me).
Enlightenment please? (I know, that wasn't grammatical either.)

        1. From analog to digital.
        2. To digital from analog.
        3. Through analog via digital?
        4. Digital manipulation of analog channels?
        5. To digital, and beyond!

Yep, there was much discussion about the analog to digital changeover in this thread for Hawaii:

          http://www.hawaiithreads.com/showthread.php?t=15406

For the first and probably only time in technological television history, Hawaii was ahead of the rest of the nation.
          I'm still here. Are you?

Like Radio Caroline from the 1960s? I don't think so. For one thing, it takes considerably more hardware to operate a TV station vs a radio station. That would make it tough to set up shop on a ship or a land-based vehicle.

And anyhow, we now have the internet. If people want to televise their own programs that the commercial stations or public-access channels won't accept, there's outlets like YouTube.
This post may contain an opinion that may conflict with your opinion. Do not take it personal. Polite discussion of difference of opinion is welcome.

As a state. I'm certain a few towns in the mainland have already switched to digital before us.

I'm still pissed we lost the right to use Haleakala.
