    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...l?hpid=topnews

Eunice Kennedy Shriver, 88, died Tuesday morning at Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis, Mass., after a series of strokes.

Shriver, a member of a great political dynasty, devoted her life to improving the welfare of the mentally disabled and founded the Special Olympics as a showcase for their abilities.

Out of all the Kennedys, Eunice is the one who I most admire. What happened to her sister Rosemary (unsuccessful lobotomy) was terrible. But Eunice was able to turn her family's tragedy into a program that has helped millions worldwide with special needs.

RIP, Eunice Kennedy. Your legacy (Special Olympics) will continue to live on.
