No need to imply pake, I just didn't think to ask. We donate plenty to Goodwill but they've turned me away on computer equipment before, and they used to have a policy statement to that effect. It looks like Salvation Army might take computer equipment (http://www.satruck.com/donation-value-guide). Does anyone know specifically whether the local Salvation Army will take a donated monitor or a laptop?

The reason I'm asking is because we have an old Dell Latitude D505 to get rid of:
      http://www.dell.com/downloads/us/pro.../d505_spec.pdf with an
Intel Pentium M, 1.4 MHz, 1 GB RAM, WinXP, 15" monitor. The DVD drive seems to be going bad (or needs to have its laser aligned) but the hard drive is only a couple years old. I was ready to give it to one of our local schools for them to use as a doorstop in their classroom but Salvation Army works too.

Try craigslist it'll sell plus there's always someone there willing to take old or broken computers for free.
