Only until Leno decides he wants it.

The most memorable last show on a talk show was on Johnny Carson. That's why he was the best.
Actually, that was Johnny's 2nd-to-the-last show. His last show was like Oprah's in the sense that there were no guests. Just the host saying goodbye to the audience, with no one else in the spotlight.

Well, I can honestly say that I haven't really seen a whole episode of the show, ever, I did have to sit through the 2 "concerts" and I have come to my own conclusions *hrmmm*

Well, I knew she was a humanitarian, and I applaud her for all that she does, and will continue to do. She came from such an amazing background, I had no idea. VERY humbling. She is a hard worker that has had all the planets align just perfectly. Oprah seems to be her own religion. It is like some of the masses worship her. Kinda amazing, kinda scary, but once again, very humbling.

Her career is FAR from over. I think she will use her network for a springboard to promote shows/topics that maybe she felt hindered by, by being tied into one network. If SHE owns the network, then there are no "heads" to say no.

knock it off, all of you

              seriously, what the hell

My daughter and I watched an ep of OWN's 25th Season: Behind the Scenes this week-end. It featured the show that Oprah featured 5 former talk show hosts. It was during the prep of that show that she learned Donahue was "fired"...which is probably why there was no farewell extravaganza.

Oprah, via Harpo, is 50% owner of the network. Discovery Communications (Discovery Channel) owns the other 50%. I'd love to know how much control she has over programming. I saw Stedman interviewed last week and he alluded to programming that will stay within her beliefs. More OWN info HERE. In addition:
Winfrey had announced her syndicated talk show would end on May 25, 2011, and that it would not continue on OWN thereafter.[3] However, she will host a new prime-time show on the channel called Oprah's Next Chapter two or three times a week.[1] Winfrey has committed to appearing in a minimum of 70-hours per year on the network.[4]
