Here's one of my faves;

I didn't put amounts because I make as much as possible.

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day so I'm always looking for good places and boy did I find one today! It's called Sweet E's and is back in that little Kilohana Square shopping area at 1016 Kapahulu (a couple blocks mauka of Leonard's Bakery and on the opposite side of the street). Open daily from 7am to 3:30pm. Breakfast served the whole time and lunch served after 11am. From the outside it looks like a nice little "hole in the wall" cafe, but the inside is really sweet. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Everything is fresh cooked so it takes a few minutes longer than most places but DAMN it's good!!!!
I'll be there often whenever I'm town side.![]()

Spanish Hot Chocolate.
In a saucepan, mix together Two heaping tablespoons each of cornstarch, unsweetened cocoa, and sugar. Slowly pour in two liters of milk, stirring constantly. Add two bars of dark chocolate and maybe a shake of cinnamon or a splash of vanilla. Or both.
Slowly bring this mixture to a boil, stirring all the while. It gets thick and lovely and delicious.
Either drink it hot right away or pour it into a jar and cover it and stick it into the fridge...then you can splash milk into a cup and add some of this thickened cold chocolate goop and shake or stir for a nice cold drink...or add a bit into a cup of hot milk. Or coffee.
Or cook it with a bit less milk to begin with and pour it into little cups for a better chocolate pudding that Jello makes.
Beignets des fleurs d'accacia.
(Kiawe flower fritters)
Mix two cups of flour and a pinch of salt into a bowl, make a well in the flour. Into the well, put two egg yolks, two tablespoons of oil, and a bit of milk. Blend slowly, pulling in the flour as absorbed, adding more milk...up to two cups...until the mix is creamy and somewhat thick. Then beat well once it's all mixed (I added a bit of grated orange peel and a splash of lemon syrup at this point), and leave to sit on the counter for an hour or two.
Meanwhile, go pick the accacia flowers and and make sure there are no bugs lurking in the clusters of flowers. If they happen to be wet from a rainshower of the morning dew (or a quick rinse under the tap in the sink), lay them onto a paper towel to dry.
The, when you are ready to cook the fritters...whip two egg whites in a bowl until very firm and fold them gently into the batter. You can add more milk at this point, too, if you think that the batter is going to be too thick.
Heat a good quantity of oil in a pan and quickly dip the flower clusters into the batter and then drop them into the pan of hot oil and let them brown, turning them once or twice til nicely done. The thick batter seems to hold in more of the flower taste, while thinning the batter with more milk makes them crisper but less fragrant.
Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with sugar or vanilla sugar, then turn and sprinkle with even more sugar. Powdered sugar would work, too.
Eat. With cocoa or coffee or whatever.
Lick your fingers.

Lately I've been eating José Olé breakfast burritos, either bacon or sausage and egg (and salsa in both). Tried the ham and egg one, didn't like it.
Had a breakfast meeting today at LikeLike Drive Inn. Food was good; service was terrific.

Also, I just heard that the Pagoda Floating Restaurant reopened on Thursday after an extensive remodeling. Open again for breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus Sunday brunch.
