Craig, reminds of the trip we took with our yougest daughter to a small mid-western liberal arts college several years ago. We were visitinng schools she might like to attend. We were escorted around campus by a very genial female student. We broke for lunch with her and sat down in the student cafeteria. In walks a male student iin a flowery dress with his cafeteria tray! I said what the H! Our escort gave him a nonchalant glance and said, "He does that all the time. He's just trying to get in touch with his feminine side." Okie dokie!

My daughter decided to attend an Ivy League school, but for other reasons.

Two keys? I guess your workplace is as old fashioned as apartheid. Berkeley dorms had coed restrooms/showers decades ago.
May I always be found beneath your contempt.

I guess "Berkeley" couldn't afford two bathrooms then.

Once I was using the bathroom at work standing at the urinal talking to the new janitor. SHE told me to have a good day as I washed up and left. Like I said before, dress like a guy...get treated like one.

Au contraire! When I attended Berkeley, each 8 story dorm building was segregated by gender. And it wasn't that long ago either, whippersnapper!

What would you have said or done? My mind was struggling with the best way to ask, “do you want the men’s or women’s key?” This reminds me of that SNL skit, where store clerks, etc., can’t figure out the gender of ‘Pat’.

...and so, what happened at work today?

                  Re: Today At Work

Today I talked to someone I thought had mutiple personalities. A young man called and I was talking to him, then bam! An old woman starts answering my questions. No phone hand off or anything. Then back to young man. Then old woman. I finally figured out they were two different people on two extentions at their house, but it threw me for a minute or two! (It was early).

I work in a commercial building, and the restroom facilities are down the hall. I've never seen a commercial or public building with coed restrooms, unless the facility has only one toilet and meant for one person at a time. ??

You're getting that confused with the bar in Tijuana, but it's closed now.

Yeah...I'm digging on hearing about other people's work stories. Maybe we could start a new threat for gender confusion, since there seems to be a lot of interest on the topic?
