  • Palindrome Day, Jan. 2, 2010

Kind of related to this topic:

The date 01/02/2010 is a palindrome: A confluence of month, date and year that reads the same backward as forward.

...and this has nuthin' to do with Sarah!

It's a rare event and we're experiencing it. Click here if you can't figure it out.

Re: Palindrome Day, Jan. 2, 2010

While not exactly the same, this reminds me of 'Backmasking': the recording technique in which a sound or message is recorded backward onto a track that is meant to be played forward.

That site I linked is kinda' neat. You can play the clip of each song (such as Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven) in forward, then play it backwards to hear the "Satanic messages" hidden in the lyrics. He even provides transcripts of the lyrics in both directions.

Not surprising, there's an entire Wikipedia page dedicated to Marilyn Manson's Backmasking work.

My name backwards: IAMOP. Nah, comes out to nothin'. lol

Maybe that's why Sarah Palin has a habit of not finishing what she starts (her term as Governor and vacation in Hawaii). It's due to her suffering "Palindrome": she goes forward on an endeavor, then suddenly, for whatever reason, puts the gear in reverse.

That's a good one. Did you actually come up with that yourself?

Leo, for me that line is from the song The Legend Of Palindrome by www.ridersinthesky.com

But, you've reciprocated and made my day, now I know about Baby Gramps! How'd I miss this guy?!
I'd like to hear about him from your perspective. PM me if you would, please.

They keep saying he plays steel guitar.
                      Not.
He plays a National guitar with a round neck, for standard playing. Nickle plated brass body. Not much steel on them, screws, tailpiece, tuners, etc.

Baby Gramps > No, I can't read a note and don’t' even know the names of my strings except one... Henrietta.

Oh, no; that's from the song "Palindromes" by the aforementioned Baby Gramps. I am but a humble collector of the joyously playful word assemblages, not a clever creator. That "Doc..." one is the longest I've heard that actually makes sense.

'Tis night; I, with gin, sit.

Ron, thank you - I forgot Riders In The Sky's wonderful semi-parodic take on "Paladin," though Grampy-poo has quoted it. I've recorded Riders in concert only once (around 1991, I think), but have had Baby Gramps on my stages multiple times. I once described him as "Popeye gone bad" to a radio audience.

Not the best film of him, but here is a clip of "Palindromes."

May a moody baby doom a yam.

I had a radio-comedy troupe in the mid-'80s, named "Step On No Pets," and my own production company is a palindrome involving my own name (which, for lack of current trademark registration, I will fail to reveal here).

Haha thats awsome. In my biology classes I learned that palindromes are responsible for splicing and manipulating certain fragments of dna. Its especially useful in using dna evidence or creating new drugs by bacteria!

My Indian roommate is also pallindromic because his name is Naman, namaN. Haha cool!
