  • Re: Disapearing Establishment(s)

Hey!! does anyone remember the leather store Called Grand Bazaar (here in Oahu ages ago), they sold leather bags, shoes, & belts, & probably some jewelries.

Do you remember where they were & why they left?

I think they were probably near ward??

Say your final goodbyes to Macy's Downtown .

I heard they they may close down the one in Ala Moana in or around June. .

Maybe too much competition in the internet shopping world??.

Hard to believe that the reason(s) for any Macy's store closing down is just due to bankruptcy.

      sigh.

Another one bites the dust. The Slipper House closed its door last week, ahead of schedule, because they sold out of merchandise. It was one of the original 80 or so Ala Moana Center tenants. As far as I can tell, there are only nine original tenants left: Dairy Queen, Watumull's, Reyn Spooner, Foodland, Longs, Territorial Savings, the U.S. Post Office, and Sears (which will close its doors tomorrow). So it goes.

They had a dollar movie at the complex at the Makai end of Punchbowl, I think.

Oops! I left one off my list. Shirokiya, that amazing little department store.

Foodland, Barnes & Noble, and the Post Office are the only three places I go to at Ala Moana Center.

I'm going to miss Foodland. The only affordable places for me left at Ala Moana Center are Longs' Drug, Post Office and Shirokiya mainly for the used CDs and DVDs.
                        I'm still here. Are you?

Take out the PO and that's all for me too, I grab the evening reduced price spicy chicken at Foodland, addicted to that. It's so expensive otherwise, just nuts, and they still don't have a great selection, but better than before.
