I had some fun there, too bad it's ending, we don't have enuf venues of that sort. Of course we don't have the cool shows like we used to either...

I tried to go to Diamond Head Video on Queen Street found out it was closed and then on Kalakaua is closed too. Sad. Doesn't matter if its a local video rental place like these guys or a national chain like Blockbuster, all will be out of business because people don't want to leave their house anymore to get something when you can download it or get it delivered in the mailbox.

Pets Discount store in Kaneohe closed a couple of days ago. It was on Kam Highway on the same block as the Kaneohe fire station.
Bummer. I used to love going in there, as they not only had supplies but also had live pets and actually allowed you to hold the pets and get some love.

Meh. One live music venue closes, another soon takes its place, as even Pipeline's owner knows all too well.

The "Pets' Discount, Pets' Discount" commercial tune is stuck in my head somewhere.

Tanabe's on Keeaumoku Street right above McDonalds. Closed since January 15.

All lit up back in 2007.
    I'm still here. Are you?

It'll suck if Tanabe's is pau, they have a good selection of tasty old style local foods that are hard to find now. Been going there for decades.

Wow, I was just at the dentist a week ago or so and I swear it was open then.
Must have closed due to Petco coming in next to Walgreen's.

Kailua Don Quijote closes at the end of the day Sat Feb 5 to make way for Target. Shelves looking bare - but DQ has other stores on O`ahu to which remaining merchandise can be shifted, so I guess no 'going out of biz' sales.

I guess so. Our HT buddy Burl Burlingame has a big story about bookstores in today's Star-Advertiser, and in that article is this:

"Another casualty is Rainbow Books & Records on University Avenue. Owner Tom Farely said his store will shut down Sept. 25 after 25 years in business.
"It's a bad time for books in general," he said."

    Borders, Windward Mall is closing.
I heard a rumor the Kailua used book store (book nook?) is also set to close.

    Now where do I go?

I'll have to check. They seemed as good as ever when I went past them this week.

I know once before they had a sign that made me think they were closeting, but it was just sales hype.

Pretty soon the price on that "leg lamp" from A Christmas Story and the Charlie Brown Christmas Tree will fall.
