    Re: The March to Socialism

Sooo... I take it that we should reform the US economy into Socialism? Seems there are more here defending it rather than discounting it.
Life is what you make of it...so please read the instructions carefully.

I simply posted a definition of the word so that we could all be clear what we were discussing. and so that we could stop making inflammatory accusations. I did not indicate a preference/support for any particular issue.

Someone needs to find Bobin's history teachers and make sure they're not influencing any more young minds.
Sounds like someone played hooky during their History classes.

That's from years of liberal media control and government propaganda. But when they lose their freedoms, it'll be too late. Happens time and time again in the annals of history.

Yeah - I finally gave up on B's psychoses a few weeks ago when he refused to answer a simple question posed to him a couple of times. The man is living in a reality beyond, influenced exclusively by right-wing propaganda.

                He thinks along these lines.

Actually we're moving closer to Fascism/Feudalisim as an economic profile...and have been for a long time so it's not a new thing or an Obama thing it's a corporate thing. The corporations own the lobbyists and the lobbyists own the politicians.

Wrong, they were born here in North America, not Europe.

If you were speaking of the Puritains/Pilgrims...

Wrong again, they split because the King of England, when breaking from the Roman Catholic church and the Papacy, didn't go far enough in opposition to a religion based on the old testament. They trucked themselves to the Netherlands and were perfectly happy until the Dutch booted out the Moricoes (christianized muslims) out which pizzed off Spain. The Puritains then got nervous that the Dutch wouldn't be able to protect them from the particularly nasty guy named Torquemada who was running a little shindig called the Spanish Inquisition (1478-1821), so they bolted back to England and from there to the 'new world' with blessings and a bit of funding from King James I. Ever read the Mayflower Compact Bobi?

Wrong again Bobi...the revolution came about because the rich and wealthy were not taxed while the feudal poor were taxed into oblivion (there was no such thing as a middle class then that a manifestation of the industrial revolution).

Think Corporate Feudalism to get a modern day equivilant.

Jefferson in 1816 wrote to George Logan,

In this respect England exhibits the most remarkable phenomenon in the universe in the contrast between the profligacy of it's government and the probity of it's citizens. And accordingly it is now exhibiting an example of the truth of the maxim that virtue & interest are inseparable. It ends, as might have been expected, in the ruin of it's people, but this ruin will fall heaviest, as it ought to fall on that hereditary aristocracy which has for generations been preparing the catastrophe. I hope we shall take warning from the example and crush in it's birth the aristocracy of our monied corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial of strength and bid defiance to the laws of our country.

True that...tho the history thing I can't let lie without some kind of correction. that was nonsense but to let it lie there unchallenged could give it the appearance of acceptance.

Which is a lot of the problem with the hard right and the hard left, not many want to challenge their 'facts' with FACTS...and the lazy will follow the path of least resistance.

Agreed - and I'm happy to do so, to a point. Then I begin to remember the definition of insanity.

Most posters here with whom I have occasional disagreements can at least make reasonable arguments to support their views, and an exchange of ideas and perspectives can be enjoyable. But there are a tiny handful who just can't be shaken from their erroneous perches, and it's an exercise in futility and frustration to continue wasting keystrokes on them.

                          Leo,

Either I'm psychotic, or you're absolutely clueless.

Besides, in the 'Obama Birthers' thread, I asked you to restate the question, but you did not comply. Perhaps I should've used certified mail..?

Your inability to provide a grasp on historic events exposes you. No wonder this country is in such a mess. My conservative views allowed this country to be the greatest in the world, and your leftist views is dismantling it.

You mean taxing the poor and not the rich is not a form of abuse? What about viewing the entire picture?

Both, the artistocracy AND the Roman Catholic Church were abusers of men. The puritans were obviously not Catholic.

I never mentioned Jefferson, Madison, et. al., so how could I be wrong the first time.

When you add everything up, it all boils down to what I said. Picking apart my general statement with a tiny account of history is knucklehead territory.

No need to go any further with this Bobi....You really don't have any comprehension of what constitutes a reasoned position or argument, or how to present one, do you.
