How new are you talking about? Published in the past year? Or just something you haven't already read?

A light easy read is "Murder on Molokai". I got it recently, and thought it was a good read.

Also, if you havent read "The Descendants", I highly recommend this one!

Thanks for the suggestions. Will check them out....I think I have read almost everything written.
Since I can not be in Hawaii right now, at least I can read about her....

Sorry for not answering...I have compression fractures of my lumbar spine and sitting at the computer is sometimes not in the cards. I am looking for New Hawaiian Fiction, but am open to anything. Newly published..Local Hawaiian author maybe...

What do you mean by "new?" Do you mean, like, published in the past year? Published in the past couple of years? Published just this past month? It would be easier to recommend something if I knew what you meant.

                    Re: New Hawaiian Fiction

I agree that this request for information on new Hawaiian fiction is vague. At the risk of listing something you have previously read or a genre you may not be interested in here is a list of some books/authors that I am aware of. Some are old but may be new to you. This list is not meant to be complete. Hope this helps.

Talking to the Dead, Sylvia Watanabe

All I Asking for is My Body, Milton Murayama

                    Rogue Wave, Boyd Morrison

After the Ball, David P. Penhallow

                    Kahala, Laurie Ames Birnsteel

                    Makai, Kathleen Tyau

                    Other writers:

                    Kaui Hart Hemmings

                    Kiana Davenport

                    Jon Shirota

                    Mark Brown

                    Gaellen Quinn

Also, check out the book store at Bamboo Ridge Press

Thank you for such a wonderful list...There are a few that I have not read...I did not go into detail on my request, as I read all things Hawaii. I was born Oahu and usually get back often. Due to injury I am unable to until 2011. Thanks for some new books...Mahalo

Good list from Lihingmui, especially Bamboo Ridge.

But also, Literary Lotus (also includes beyond Hawaii) and HawaiiReader.com might point you in the right direction.
