  • Walkoff Balk

When it happened, I thought of you, Walkoff Balk.

5/31/10: LA Dodgers vs Arizona Diamondbacks. 4-4 tie. Casey Blake at 3rd with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th. Pitcher balked. LA wins.

Just saw the highlights. Blake didn't jump on the plate and break his leg in celebration. He should have done a crazy celebration to celebrate a first walkoff balk.

I'm certain the Angels manager didn't tell Morales to "break a leg" when he went up to bat. But you can sure bet every team who watched decided to back off their game-winning celebrations. Imagine what would have happened to Roy Halliday after that perfect game... bust up an arm or a shoulder and he'll be perfectly worthless for the rest of the season.

The Florida Marlins are selling the remaining tickets for the Halliday's perfect game. Are the Dodgers going to put on the market the walkoff balk game too?

Florida can't seem to attract fans to their stadium if they paid them, bribed them, or gave away season tickets.

Los Angeles has consistently been an attendance record holder for decades. No need to shamelessly sell post-game empty seat tickets.
