    Default Charlie Wedemeyer, RIP

I remember him playing for Punahou.

Having lived in the South Bay since '74, he played quite a role in the local high school football arena.

What a great person he was:

Wow, what an inspiration he was/is. His life was amazing, the contirbutions
he made, the love he shared with his devoted wife and family. I enjoyed reading his autobiography. Rest in Peace Charlie, you were an amazing
individual whose legacy will live on.

Charlie Wedemeyer was an amazing individual, in so many ways. I remember watching him in the 1966 Michigan State-Notre Dame game (aka the Game of the Century), which happened to be the first live broadcast of a mainland game in Hawaii. But it was how he handled himself after contracting Lou Gehrig disease that was truly inspiring. That he lived so long (a very full life) and accomplished so much is truly amazing.

I wonder if they'll broadcast any of the past movies that was made of his life.

I read the Star-Advertiser article & thought you'd like to read the San Jose Mercury News' article:
