Thanks, MM! Looked like some nice rolling waves that day.
We should warn people to turn down their volume before clicking on that video, though.
As for the other crewman, Brice... was he seasick that day or does he hate having cameras on him or was he always that quiet/catatonic the whole trip?

I have exactly the same weather station here in my living room. Sitting here, looking at it now! 2pm, 79F, 55% hum, barometer steady. No Pink Floyd tho.

Really doesn't like cameras and is fairly quiet too. HaHa!

"My starting point will be Lands End in Cabo about 400 miles south of where you turned out. I will have a bit different heading than you but will gradually close on your course. However, I will head straight for the Molokai Channel rather than Hilo. I will do about 175 miles a day if I have weather like you had. I figure about 16 to 18 days to cross."

              Hey Matapule!
Less than 4 months till you head this way, right?!

Getting Aloha stocked up with canned goods?
Anything else you have to do to your vessel in preparation?

Mrs. Menehune and I are inviting you both over for an 'islander' dinner at our place after you're settled. Just thinking about your trip across and wishing you all the Bestest!

Well this is a negative story, but I just got home from cruising around and getting a few errands done.
Saw this poor sailboat on the reef outside the Hilton Lagoon area. The Captain and Crew are on board.

There are a couple more shots in the set.

Inexperienced! They got themselves in a place they should have never been.

Minoru Saito, a Japanese national who shortly will complete 8 solo circumnavigations around the world. He's been in Hawaii a few times.

I believe they already left Auckland, New Zealand?!
"Seven voyaging canoes are expected to make landfall in Hawaii after setting sail from the Marquesas Islands earlier this month.

Ohana Wa’a, an alliance of Hawaii’s voyaging organizations, says in a news release the canoes are expected to arrive at Hilo Bay Thursday. (TODAY!)

The canoes represent Tahiti, Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, New Aotearoa, New Guinea, Vanuatu, Kiribati and the Solomon Islands.

The fleet set sail from Nuku Hiva in the Marquesas Islands.

The canoes are expected to go to Oahu next week. (Yippee!)"

When they come to Oahu, they'll be at Kualoa/Hakipuu side.
                        Near Chinaman's Hat (Mokoli'i Island).

Very cool! Maybe they're pulling into that open beach area just before Waikane.
Usually the canoes go a little farther north, to Kahana Bay.

Oh man you folks make me jealous with your stories of sailing the many places. When I was a teenager my brother in law lived on a sloop in the Ala Wai harbor. I thought that was the coolest thing I had seen in my life. He was dating my sister at the time and they ended up getting married. They still are.

A few times they (mainly from the begging from my sister) would drag me along when they sailed to Maui (Lahaina) but I have never gone sailing since those days. Been on power boats but not sailing. You who have sail boats are very fortunate and please enjoy your time on the oceans. What a life!

I miss the ocean so much. Someday--maybe..
