  • Oceanic Telephone Service and Fax Use

We have a standalone fax machine plugged into our home phone line; that line is now using Oceanic's service rather than Hawaiian Tel's.

I've tried faxing and get the "poor line condition" notice as my poor simple one-page fax fails to arrive at the other end. I've removed the splitter between the fax and the wall, but I can't plug the fax directly into the wall because the physical phone line from the wall is so old it's not a jacked plug but the twisted wire variety.

Does anyone have any trouble with faxing over Oceanic's phone lines, or is my problem something other than that?

I utilize Oceanic for my FAX machine and have not encountered any difficulties on either the sending or receiving end. One nice feature is that if I'm watching television, the caller ID information appears on-screen.

That's one data point against my conclusion. Thanks.

Is it possible your old connection is simply that...an old connection. You may want to splice in a standard RJ11 jack into your phone line. Dirty connections can result in poor line conditions.
Life is what you make of it...so please read the instructions carefully.
