Re: TV series theme songs
I think through TV history mostly comedic series had lyrics to their theme songs. Famous ones include:
Comedies
The Beverly Hillbillies
Gilligan's island "Ballad of Gilligan's island"
The Addams' Family
F-Troop
Happy Days "Rock Around the Clock" "Happy Days"
LaVerne & Shirley "Making Our Dreams Come True"
MR. ED "A Horse is a Horse of course"
My Mother the Car "She was a 1928 Porter..."
All in the Family
Dobie Gillis
Welcome Back Kotter "Welcome Back" by John Sebastian
Love American Style
Action
Batman - very limited vocals on this one.
Drama
Daniel Boone
Johnny Yuma "Johnny Yuma was a rebel..."
Crime Story - Del Shannon's "Runaway" remake
Sci Fi
Fireball XL5 - closing credits "I Wish I Were a Spaceman"
Children
Checkers & Pogo - kind of limited lyrics
Sesame Street
The Electric Company
Animated
Underdog
Speed Racer
Hercules
Astro Boy
The Flinstones
The Jetsons
There's probably more. Not too familiar with newer shows having theme song lyrics/vocals except those that rethread rock songs like CSI who have 2 Who songs for their themes... maybe 3... (Won't Get Fooled Again; Who Are You)....
Some drama series had spoken intros over an instrumental theme.... Star Trek "Space the Final Frontier"; Babylon 5; Dragnet;Last edited by mel; August 16, 2010, 11:27 PM.I'm still here. Are you?
