  • Final bow - Tony Curtis @ 85

I sure liked this guy, and I don't recall ever watching even one of his movies.

He was the George Clooney of my high school years! Ooooh, the swooning we teen girls did!

True story...Tony and his lady used to frequent the Maile Lounge at the old Kahala Hilton Hotel when this great dance venue was my hangout. A local columnist inadvertently itemed me with Tony! Actually, I was at the next table with a group of local friends, many of whom were mentioned regularly in entertainment columns. So, the way the column was written, naming everyone at my table followed by Tony's table led lots of my friends and coworkers to believe I was Tony's date that evening! Can't say I was disappointed in the association; only that it wasn't fact! He was so handsome. <swoon>

    RIP, Tony...

I met Tony Curtis at a showing of his paintings at Antony Quinn's short-lived gallery in Waikiki. Nice guy. Also there; George Peppard.

To me, there is nobody in film today that comes close to Curtis, even a bit better than Elvis. And he always seemed a class act.

Not sure I've seen Curtis and Presley compared in the same sentence! Just curious what you meant by that.

I wonder if they ever met? That could've been a cool fly-on-the-wall moment.
Of that 50s era, they were certainly two of the pop male 'pretty boy' faces that could make you appreciate the flip side from the John Wayne's of the time.
